10 Spring Activities Great For Families

Why We Created A List

By no means are we trying to put a negative light on lists, they are GREAT, (have you noticed that we like them here at Family Life University?!?!) However, when you look at these Spring Bucket lists many of them are great ideas for fun and possible educational activities between a mom and her kids. Again, there’s nothing wrong with that, stay-at-home-moms need to do things with just herself and her kiddos.

But, since it’s pretty simple to find a list of kid-friendly ideas for this spring, we thought that we would give you some Family-friendly ideas for you Spring Bucket Lists! So let’s get at it.

  1. Everyone Donate 10 things to charity. With Spring cleaning happening, why not use this as a great time to talk about the fact that God gives us everything we have so we can be a blessing to others. This includes blessing others with the toys, clothes, and household items we no longer need or use.
  2. Family Photo Shoot {doesn’t have to be a pro!}. If you can afford a professional photographer I (Marissa) would highly suggest doing so. “Lifestyle” shoots are GREAT for small kids, so look for someone who does those if you have younger kids. If you can’t afford it, then simply ask a friend to take some pics of your family outside at a park, or lake. You won’t regret getting those times caught on film!
  3. Create a drive-in movie night. We have a post here for how to do this in your garage, but you could even do this on your garage doors if it’s warm enough. This is something that your entire family will remember for a long time! And it’s not hard at all.
  4. Go to a baseball game. Going to a sporting event is a lot of fun. Simply doing that type of activity as a family, and being intentional about it is even better. The night before have a hot-dog buffet with different toppings.
  5. Research a mission or charity you want to support, then create a plan for how you can raise money this summer for them. Having a common mission or goal as a family will bring an unity and closeness like nothing else. Think about each persons different personality and gifts and use those to create a plan to raise money. Your daughter might be really organized and your son might be a great artist. You could put together an auction of his art and your daughter could help organize it.
  6. (Number 6 to 10 are below in the members only area)

Care To Share

We hope that you enjoyed that list, and we would love to hear what your thoughts are for things to do as a family this Spring. Care to share your addition to our Spring Family Fun Bucket list, tell us in the comments what yours is.

Here are five additional activities.

  1. Plant a tree {Earth day is April 22 this year}. Not too much to explain here friends! Just make sure you know what the type of tree you are planting needs as far as water, space, and sunlight.
  2. Look at the stars and make up your own constellations. This is easy fun, and something that anyone from from 3 up can do.
  3. Watch a meteor shower, there is one April 22 and May 4. The best time to watch is right before sunrise. (You could create your own constellations while waiting and watching for the shooting starts.
  4. Each pick a book to read.(Not a novel, but some type of informative book.) Then talk about what you are learning from the book. Reading and then talking about what you read is not only great cognitive exercise, but it will also allow you to show your kids that learning is a life-long process.
  5. Work through a Bible study together. There are so many different types and styles of Bible studies. Go to a Christian bookstore together, pick one out and then set aside 1 or 2 nights a week to work through it.
